
Biography
Roland Gillet, PhD in Economics, is a professor of financial economics at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he heads the professional master's program in "Financial Management and Taxation." He is also a full professor at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management at the Université libre de Bruxelles. Additionally, he serves as an expert for various public and private institutions at the international level.

Roland Gillet completed his PhD in economics at the Catholic University of Louvain under the supervision of Alexis Jacquemin (Francqui Prize in 1983) and Franco Modigliani (Nobel Prize in Economics in 1985). He finished ranked first (Major) in the French national competitive examination for higher education aggregation in management sciences (1999). He is currently professor of financial economics at the Ecole de Management de la Sorbonne (EMS) of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, where he directs the professional master's programme in "Financial Management and Taxation," and he holds a full professorship at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
He has also been a visiting or invited professor/researcher at various universities around the world, including in Canada (Sherbrooke); in China (Fudan, Shanghai); and in the United States, at Harvard and MIT.
He is the author of several reference works and numerous articles published in leading academic journals, as well as the recipient of various distinctions and scientific awards. Recently, he was invited by Robert Shiller (Nobel Prize in Economics in 2013) to write the forewords for two of his most renowned books related to financial crises and the irrational exuberance of markets.
In addition to his academic activities, Roland Gillet has served as an expert within various international think tanks, particularly focusing on the crisis in the Eurozone (especially in Greece and Spain), and as a scientific advisor to various public and private institutions. He has also acted as an economic and financial advisor to different business leaders and government officials in Belgium and abroad, including to the President of the European Council.

Members of the French Finance Association were invited to attend the 2022 edition of the AFFI International Conference held in Saint Malo, France. This is one of the most renowned conferences at European level where PhD students, professors, central bankers and finance experts exchange on major research topics in finance, in a broad sense. In addition, the last day of the conference is dedicated to PhD students for the presentation of their papers in progress.
This year, 269 international academic papers were submitted to the AFFI scientific committee headed by Jean-Laurent Viviani. On the programme: the presentation of 112 papers organised in 37 parallel sessions, and at the doctoral seminar level, 18 papers out of 38 were selected to be presented in 6 rigorous sessions.
